BLACK & WHITE: WORLD APART. In the White World, you seem to be liked by everybody, or everybody seems to like you. Your origin and personality apart, you are greeted and confronted with smiles and pleasantries. Everybody smiles at you everywhere - stores, post offices, churches, business centers, parks, movie theatres and what have you. In the World of the white, nobody cares about how you look, what you put on, the kind of shoes in your legs, your wrist watch of your shirt make. Nobody cares, or so it seems. But is that the end of it? No! There are more. The White assumes you need to display pleasantry and be nice to people, even if there are different motives behind your mind. If there are alternative feelings, you still must not let them reflect on your face and attitude. You have to pretend. Take for example if your employer is planning to get you fired, or your immediate neighbor is planning to call cops on you for whatever reason. Firstly, you will never have any idea of the plans from the manners they will relate with you. Only your boss/supervisor will know to himself/herself. Nobody else will. Only your neighbor will know to himself/herself what he/she is planning. He/she will never show it on face, reflect it in his/her behavior nor discuss it with anybody. Before the bombshell, your boss will be the nicest person to you in the office especially on the firing schedule day. He will give you the most warm, pleasant and beautiful smile and greetings all through the day. She will get more familiar than usual with you with many jokes and personal but funny questions, all with smiles. If you are a very good observant, a kind of suspicious feeling that something strange is about to happen will flash across your heart. The same goes for your neighbor who is planning to hand you over to the authority. He/she will act the same way. Huunnn! That is the White World for you in brief. The Black World on the other hand is different. In fact, it is in the opposite, so to say. You are looked down on by people. You are assessed, weighed, measured, valued and prized by all what you put on. You are looked at scornfully with very terrible, frowned and unpleasant face. People show attitudes and react directly to you according to whatever feelings they have in mind for you. No pretense. No lies. You get, grasp and understand instantly the whole message from peoples attitudes to you. Again, sighting as example, if you are to be sacked by your employer. In the Black World, you will see signs that something is fishing from the manners and ways your colleagues interact with you days before the D day. Information through speculations, rumors and gossips have gone round to everybody but only YOU. Friends and pals will begin to keep distance and give you space for no offence. Your boss who will pronounce the verdict is not excluded. In fact, his/her attitudes to you will be the worse. If you salute and greet him/her on the morning of the day you are to be sacked, it is either he/she answers you in a degrading manner, with bad attitude or not even answer at all. And when he/she eventually hands over the termination letter to you, he/she backs it up with abusive words, inappropriate sentences, mockery phrases and even curses in other to make you feel guilty and take responsibility. These stuffs are in their characters in the Black World. The Black World with open declaration of reality, sincerity, facts and true picture of what the society really think or feel about you, with no pretense, sentiment or bias on one hand, the White World, highly pretentious, faking, flattery and lying about the true perceptions of you. Which one is commendable? Which one should be highly appreciated?
