BLACKNALL Im looking for the full text of Oscar W. Blacknalls - TopicsExpress

BLACKNALL Im looking for the full text of Oscar W. Blacknalls article from October 31, 1895 called Negro Slave Holders and Slave Owners from Raleighs News and Observer. Im not in North Carolina, so Im unable to visit archives in person. Some background - Oscar W. Blacknall (he also used the pseudonym David Dodge) was a resident of Granville/Franklin counties and the son of a Civil War soldier. In addition to his writings about his own family history, he also wrote at least two articles about the free colored population of Granville Co, with a lot of focus on their Native heritage. This is my family that he wrote about, we are of Saponi heritage, but also Tuscarora, Occaneechi, Nansemond and from other regional tribes that were displaced during colonization. I found another article that he wrote under his pseudonym David Dodge, titled The Free Negroes of North Carolina were he uses some very colorful and descriptive language to describe our Indian racial features. Im very curious to read this other article from the News and Observer, but Im unable to locate the full text online. I appreciate any and all help. Also, if you know of more helpful details about Oscar Blacknalls life, Id love to hear it. Not many authors were writing about our people during this time period, so I wonder what his interest was.
