BLAIR NASH Presents… “Relationship Couple Of The Month” STEPHANIE & RON LYLES 1st Date: I invited her to a concert with me….so I guess that kinda would be our first date officially. Where did you two meet? We met initially in church. She sang in a choir & I was a guest musician. We dated for about 2 years. In the 1st year I left and went on the road with a gospel group of young ladies called The Truthettes. [I just knew when I left she would find someone else.] Upon my return I discovered she was still lovin on a brotha. ;) I knew then that she was a Keeper….had to put a ring on that hand! LOL Where do you live? We currently live in Columbus, Ohio. What’s your most memorable date? We went downtown for dinner and it spun off into the best date ever! We clowned, we took pics. It really showed me another side of courting: how to enjoy each other’s company without dim lights/wine/cuddling. [Although all great things.] But it was wonderful to go out and just let your hair down and have fun. It was the best. How do you both handle arguments? With me (Robert) I bounce back pretty good. With her it could take a couple of days! :) Who dances better? As much as it pains me to say – she is the better dancer. How old are the two of you? She robbed the cradle. She older than I am. She’s the “Big 50” and I am 49 [will be 50 in December]. What “quirks” have you learned about one another after being married? We differ in our love for pets. She has come to like them a little bit. But I love dogs. Big Dogs! LOL. She also has a fear of bugs and crawling things. Should you date around a bit prior to marriage – or keep it to a minimum? In this day and time: as a man I’d want to be sure about who I’m with. But the games being played today….not sure how I feel about it. What do you do [career wise]? Stephanie is a Claims manager for the State of Ohio for 29 years. Robert has been in and out of sales for 16 years….currently working for Miracle Motor Mart. How’d you know things were getting serious? When I started writing her name on everything and she was all I cared about. It got to the point that there wasnt a passing day that I couldn’t see or hear her voice. I know it sounds corny but I fell in love with this lil’ girl. We talked so much on the phone she had a separate line put in her room. How did Ron propose to you? The Proposal…….wow. Man, I went and got the ring, got my nerve up…..took her to lunch at this little Greek restaurant. Funny thing, you think she was just going to say yes and take the ring. Well….that did not happen. She hit me with the “let me pray about it”. [PAUSE.] She definitely surprised me, she would not even take the ring at first, but I knew she was the one. So what did I do? What any other grown man would do. I called her Grandmother/Pastor!!! LOL. But she did take the ring and said Yes and the rest is history and we are still writing chapters in our lives. ~BN~
