BOGNOR FRIDAY NIGHT SUMMER DARTS LEAGUE 2014 - BLIND TREBLES KNOCKOUT & PRESENTATION WINNERS - Robert Tite (Newtown X), Pauline Waller (ASC) & Richard Morgan Scott-Ragless (Wheatsheaf) RUNNERS-UP - Chris Gatford (Hunston Club), Stuart Rose (Newtown A) & Dave Bourne (Friary C) Friday the 12th September saw the conclusion of the 2014 summer season with a Blind Trebles knockout followed by the trophy presentation at the Newtown Social Club. 75 players took part in the knockout, the most ever in the summer. The early rounds saw a few top players leave the competition, including the number 1 players from divisions 1 & 2, and the number 2 player from Division 3, proving that anything can happen in the Blind Trebles! The first semi-final saw Rob Tite (Newtown X), Pauline Waller (ASC) & Richard Ragless (Wheatsheaf) take on Dave Wingate (Friary D), Maggie Doyle (Richmond Regulars) & Andy Chant (Sports Club). A close game, but Tite, Waller & Ragless managed to find their way into the final. The second semi-final was between Paula Duckett (Richmond Rebels), Colin Ragless (Friary D) & John Abbott (BRSA B) versus Chris Gatford (Hunston Club), Stuart Rose (Newtown A) & Dave Bourne (Friary C). In this game Gatford, Rose & Bourne were playing better and made it to the final. The final saw Tite, Waller & Ragless up against Gatford, Rose & Bourne. Ragless won the bullseye to go first, but a score of 125 from Gatford put his team in to the lead. Gatford, Rose & Bourne had 18 darts between them at their double, and eventually left double 1, but while they were doing that, Tite, Waller & Ragless were playing catch-up. Waller missed double 4, but the misses from Gatford, Rose & Bourne gave Tite a chance which he took with his first dart to take the first leg for his team. The second leg saw Bourne start with a ton, and a later score of 96 from Gatford gave their team a good lead. Rose then missed double 10 for a 78 out shot, but just like in the first leg their opponents were miles behind. Gatford took no prisoners and hit double 10 in 1 dart to take the second leg. The last leg was much closer between the teams, sharing high and low scores all the way to the double. With the only ton coming from Gatford, two 90 plus scores from Ragless and Tite gave them a chance. A miss off the board from Waller left a double, giving Gatford a chance for his team to win. With 79 left, he just missed the big treble, but still had two darts left, hitting single 20 but missing the bull, leaving 25. Tite then stood up to the oche, missing double 19 with the first dart, missing it with the second, but slid his last dart along the first two and into the double to take the win, taking this years Blind Trebles title, and taking home a nice £165 between them. Another great selection of raffle prizes were won, and once again an excellent selection of trophies were supplied by C&M Trophies of Littlehampton for the presentation.
