It tells the story of one of Bangalores eminent Mangalorean residents. Rose DSouza, wife of Rajakarya Pravina Peter George DSouza. Best known for her large family-mother of 17 and grandmother of 64, the book captures her multi-faceted personality and unique qualities that touched the lives of people from all walks of life. It describes her journey from losing both parents at an early age to becoming the wife of a distinguished civil servant, a nominated Member of the Mysore Representative Assembly, a Lay Nun who headed the Daughters of St Francis De Sales and a person whose approach to life was far ahead of her times. It also captures the romance of life in Oorgaum House, the family mansion in Bangalore, where Rose reigned as matriarch until her passing away at a venerable age of 96. It is a compilation from Roses own unpublished autobiographical notes as well as memories shared by her family and friends. Published by Rose Dsouza Memorial Trust, and edited by a group of Rose Dsouzas grandchildren, the 250 page hard cover book is professionally designed and embellished with over 300 photographs, including many rare and treasured ones from the early 1900s.
