BOUGHT TIDE!!! And bounce.... ( A LONG homemade-laundry-soap review, with a little touch of snark) Did I fall off my home-made wagon?? BTW--- yes,..... I know.... YOU found the REAL recipe..... and if I only tried yours it would work..... God love ya. Here is my review of homemade detergent For Starters---> Unless you are willing to put a LOT of ingredients into your mix... you will most likely have a sorry outcome. ingredients ~Dawn has been the best ingredient Ive used in the laundry department...... ( Outside of tide ) I will continue to use this. DAWN you are my hero ~Zote..... all the way baby...... It has a bleacher in it, BUT REQUIRES THE SUN FOR IT TO DO IT. So its awesome. but in the end doesnt cut it unless Im willing to meet it halfway. ~ Fels Naptha............ *sigh*..... probably if applied to the bottom of my snow sled.... would make a dashing little ride. ------- for the sarcastic illiterate -----> it smells nice but binds too much with the fibers in the clothing creating a dirtier-faster-fabric ~Washing soda........ I think it works O.o Probably the quiet little soldier of all the ingredients ~Borax ------- This stuff is like old-wives-tale in a box.... You put it in, because just about EVERY recipe calls for it. If you dont and your clothes are dingy someone is going to say Borax? Then you have to stare at them in a OH?! I never thought of that!.... So when you are doing this... just add it..... or youre gonna hear about it. *eyeroll* But you do have to babysit it, treat it nice, dissolve it, keep it sealed... blahblahblah... Excuse me.... um... I just cant. ~Scents------ I am not a free n clear gal... I LOVE to SMELL the clean. I know, I am probably bathing in carcinogens.... but mercy..... Heaven surely must smell of Orginal scent or Blue Iris Bliss!!! in short, the lack of smell in homemade detergent is no fun.... like, at all. OxyClean - the ingredient we all start adding to our mix because we have that nervous twing in our hearts that our original batch wasnt strong enough...... so you shakily throw it in your cart, and curse yourself that your price per load has gone up and bragging rights are OUT the window. Yet you trudge on and smirk ever so slightly at the dupes who are purchasing big name brands ( You sneaky devil you ) In the end you take all this home..... You work it into a froth, or make a dry mix. You carefully baby your borax because you MUST have it into a liquid beFORE you add it..... And the first several loads you are impressed!! You instantly arrange your ingredients in Pinterest worthy poses.... and snap away and SHARE your marvel. You are HighFIVING yourself for sticking it to the man. THREE WEEKS LATER---- or something like that The sad revelation I have found........ That my once lovely clothing started taking on a haze.... or looked faded before its time. I would scowl at my washer and hiss..... blaming it for being too harsh on my lovely clothes. Secretly hating the thought that my homemade-ness was the cause. I would forgive this stain that didnt come out... or set something aside for a rewash.... a pre-treat..... a scrub.... and and and and..... the little spots started begetting other little spots... and so on. I would slam clothing in and try to wager if it would come out clean. Bottom line..... if you do next to nothing.... no dirt, no crafts, not a heavy cooker, and dont sit near children at dinner tables... I FULLY suggest you jump on the homemade laundry train and ride that thing like you stole it. Youre most likely going to be happy. But if your like me... and dont have the means to re-stash your childrens wardrobe over and over and over.... You dont take the time to pretreat EVERY infraction on the rules of cleanliness, if you dont wish to slowly have your brilliant whites slllllooooooowwwwllly start to meld into a soft grey........ Then you might just want to be picky enough to get some Tide..... but you can stick it in a pretty Mason Jar!!! Thats cute in a photo!!! ;) I bought Tide this week...... Were havin a REVIVAL yall....
