BRAVO HUDSON THE TOWN OF HUDSON PLANS TO ADOPT AN ANIMAL BY-LAW FOCUSED ON ANIMAL WELFARE AND REDUCING OVERPOPULATION The Montreal SPCA is excited that the town of Hudson has plans to adopt a new progressive animal by-law, which is aligned with the Montreal SPCA’s view that municipalities have a crucial role to play in protecting animals and reducing companion animal overpopulation. The new by-law also incorporates certain elements found in the Montreal SPCA’s model animal by-law (spca/wordpspca/wp-content/uploads/2014/07/MOD%C3%88LE-DE-R%C3%88GLEMENT-SUR-LE-BIEN-%C3%8ATRE-ET-CONTR%C3%94LE-DES-ANIMAUX.pdf). The town of Hudson plans to use its new by-law to crack down on animal abuse, encourage sterilization, limit the sale of animals, implement a feral cat sterilization program, ban dog fighting, and implement measures against leaving animals alone in cars on hot days. The Montreal SPCA hopes that the Town of Hudson will serve as an example to other municipalities.
