BREAKING:Abducted Chibok girls released September 23, 2014Olaolu Olawuyi Some of the Chibok girls abducted by the terrorist group, Boko Haram have been released. Defence spokesman,major-Gen Chris Olukolade confirmed the release of the girls on tuesday ,but declined to give the exact figure. Though the number of those released tuesday evening could not be ascertained,majority of the 219 girls abducted on April 14 while taking their School certificate examination might have regained their freedom. The girls were reported to have been driven to the Maimalari Barracks, the headquarters of the 7th Division of the Nigerian Army in Maiduguri after they were released on tuesday . Their freedom might have been secured following a swap deal between the Nigerian government and Boko Haram.The girls were to be released by the group while the federal government was to set free some key leadersof the group in military custody.
