BREAKING: At least 51 passengers were feared to be dead after a Taiwanese TransAsia Airways plane was forced to land at a village in Penghu county at 5.35 pm. Taiwan’s Central News Agency reported. The flight, GE222, took off from Kaohsiung Siaogang Airport around 5pm. It was scheduled to land in Penghu’s Magong Airport at 5.30pm. Taiwanese transportation authorities said the plane caught fire after it landed “at the end of a runway”. There were 58 people onboard the plane, according to Tawan’s Central news agency. Seven passengers with burn injuries were sent to a local hospital. The other 51 passengers were feared to be dead. Local villagers said they heard explosions. (South China Morning Post)
