BREAKING NEWS UPDATE: Sheriff Mike Grzegorek spoke to NewsCenter 16 about the incident on Grape Rd. and Cleveland, just north of the JCPenney Home Store. Police say a female called 911 just before 10 p.m. on Saturday night asking for police. The caller then hung up. It ended up being a domestic argument between a man and a woman. No battery had occurred. The female and three children were able to exit the home safely. The male in the home barricaded himself inside the home. He threatened to take his own life. The man said he turned on the gas and propane tank that he had inside the home. Police then evacuated the surrounding area, and called for the SWAT Team. Police were able to shut the gas down, and had AEP on the way to shut the power off to the general area. The negotiators talked to the man inside the home for around 50 minutes. He was located in the basement and came out of the home on his own. Police say there were indications that he was taking medicine and had been drinking. The man was taken to the hospital. wndu/home/headlines/Large-police-presence-in-St-Joseph-County-on-Grape-Rd-258785161.html
