WE WERE SENT TO ASSASSINATE VICE PRESIDENT SAULOS CHILIMA - ARRESTED MAN REVEALS ALL TO POLICE A man arrested for breaking into Saulos Chilimas official residence in Blantyre has revealed to Chichiri Police that he and his other friends were sent to shoot the Vice President and steal some elements to make it look as a normal robbery. Realising that their plan has been botched, government agents have quickly pushed the courts to bundle the arrested man to jail so that he does not give out more information. The robbers mistakenly hit at the residence on the said night because they got information that Chilima would arrive at around 8pm from Lilongwe. However, Chilima had cancelled his Blantyre trip for the following day as he was still briefing President Mutharika on his recent Israel trip. The convict, Charles Kazuma, aged 35, used to work at Mudi State Residence from 1998 up to 2011. He has revealed that he was approached by Mr Ngalande who is DPP Youth Director and he was told of the plot for him to escort two snipers into the compound because he knows it better. He knows the perimeter fence very well and has an idea of which areas are left unpatrolled during the night, said our source from Chichiri Police. Kazuma told the investigators that they made way into the compound using the southern side which is well-lit but has no manpower guarding it. On the said night, Kazuma managed to break into the mansion using a top toilet window which he opened using a glass cutter. At this time, the other two men took their positions as agreed. When Kazuma made way into the bar and lobby section, he got hold of some wine bottles. Suddenly his presence in the house was noticed when he dropped one of the wine bottles and guards made way to the lobby where they found him scrapping for the toilet door to make his way out. It is at this juncture that the two killers quickly climbed down and out of the compound, jumped into the green Toyota Carina vehicle without a number plate and drove towards College of Medicine Sports Complex past G1 Security and Clark Cotton offices. The guards at the residence have no transport of their own so they alerted Blantyre Police who arrived at the scene some 30 minutes later. Meanwhile, the DPP government has forced the Blantyre Magistrate Court to quickly create two offences and sentence Charles Kazuma to six years imprisonment with hard labour to avoid him leaking information to public. As of yesterday DPP senior members were in meeting at a lodge in Namiwawa where our sources will fill us with the details. It is believed the meeting intends to create a cover up. This is not the first time for the DPP to plan eliminating a Vice President as they, in 2011, ambushed a convoy of then Veep, Joyce Banda.
