BRITTANY MAYNARD I want to express my appreciation for Brittany Maynards public struggle with ending her own life in the face of terminal brain cancer. My mother died three years ago from terminal brain cancer at 91. And, at 91, she was unable to come to terms with her death. She died in a nursing home with the best of care, but her last conscious days were fraught with unresolved emotions. Brittany Maynard did not have eight decades to work things out. She was 29. Yet she stepped into the public controversy about control of her own death in this hyper-religious nation, which rushes all too often to pro-life rhetoric, except when it comes to the death penalty. Her commitment to this struggle was sealed on November 1 with her chosen process of dying. Thank you, Brittany, for your courage and contribution.
