BURNLEY FC REMEMBERS D-DAY Today we commemorate the 70th Anniversary of the D-Day Landings. This was the first act of Operation Overlord which would ultimately lead to the end of World War II and the liberation of Europe by the Allied Forces. As the years have passed the number of veterans has dwindled with only a few now remaining who landed on the beaches on June 6th 1944. Monarchs, Presidents and Prime Ministers will gather alongside veterans and their families to commemorate one of history’s most pivotal moments. Burnley FC’s Military Liaison Officer Paul Morgan has traveled to Normandy with Bike Tours for the Wounded, an organisation who organise motorbike tours for wounded and injured serving and veteran personnel who have life changing injuries.
