BY: Chris McCann Throughout history, God has always saved people the same way---by the faith of Jesus Christ. Genesis 6:8 But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD. The Bible tells us that the grace that saves us, through faith, is NOT of ourselves: Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast. If those God saved are saved through faith but not faith of their selves---then whose faith is it that saves them? The answer is found in: Galatians 2:16 Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified. The little word of is very important. It tells us that saving faith comes from Christ. It is His faith that saves and not our faith in Him. This is a big distinction that the vast majority of churches do not make. Churches today teach that man is saved by faith IN Christ. This is contrary to the Bibles teaching. In fact, when a man puts faith in Christ it becomes a work of the law. 1 Thessalonians 1:3 Remembering without ceasing your work of faith, Remember Galatians 2:16 told us that no man is justified by the works of the law. Therefore no man could possibly ever be justified by his own faith in Christ, because faith is a work. Once we understand that we are saved by the faith of Christ, and not by faith in Christ, then we have right understanding that gives God all the glory in the matter of salvation. God deserves all the glory because salvation was carried out completely by His work. Christ chose those Whom He determined to save before the world began: Ephesians 1:4 According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, And Christ died for them also before the world even began: Revelation 13:8 ...the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world. All the works necessary for salvation were accomplished by Jesus Christ from the foundation of the world: Hebrews 4:3...although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.
