BY THE EDITOR BE READY FOR MORE LOAD SHADING AFTER WORLD CUP-ZESCO. 03/07/14 The Zambia Electricity Supply Corporation will in the next weeks increase load shading is they embarked on project to increase the capacity on the 88kV Kafue town to Mazabuka transmission lines. The project that is expected to reduce the level of load shading will affect towns such as Mazabuka, Chikankata, Monze, Pemba and surrounding areas. Project Engineer Hope Musonda disclosed during a stake holders’ meeting at Royal Laricio in Mazabuka yesterday, that ZESCO has procured a new High Temperature Low Sag (HTLS) conductor to be installed at the cost of K37 million kwacha. The conductor, whose life span is more than 30 years, has a higher current capacity than the existing one. The installation of the new equipment means more power outages starting mid July, 2014. And Stakeholders who agreed to allow the load shading to be done every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday from 07:00 hours to 17:00 hours for almost 2 months advised the power utility company to stick to the agreed the schedule and notify the public in time if it goes beyond the agreed time. And speaking at the meeting, Project Manager, Kennedy Mwanza appealed to stakeholders to use energy efficiently.
