Back at work for 2 days. Pretty much every conversation went something like this. Hey Rowee were you at the darts at Etihad? No mate I was at the REAL darts in Invercargill. What a riot/ mess... how did it happen ? Where was security? It wasnt a PDC event. PDC use their own security or professional like Stan Westwood who knows what they are doing. They identify trouble before it starts. Why didnt the Dartsking in Sydney go ahead? Phil Taylor was obviously the star attraction. His mother is gravely ill. He must have got advice that he should be with her at this time. He would not just abandon the tour without a very serious reason. Phil mentioned before this happened that he loved New Zealand and was keen to bring the top 8 players from the PDC over possibly in November before the next World Championships. I think he will be devastated that he let the public down and will do his best to make sure a bigger and better event happens. What was the darts like? Absolutely magic from the first game. The game between Shane Tichowitsch and Warren Parry got the crowd going with an exhibition that could have won them most BDO World Championships. There was 7 or 8 180s in that match alone. Over the night there were something like 33 180s thrown . Thank you TAB for giving such generous odds on 18+ 180s for the night of $5.25. Adrian had 7 perfect darts I think in a 9 dart attempt and Phil had 8 only missing the double 12 by the wire.
