Back in April of 2011 I added a new facet to my entertainment journalism coverage focal points- online video entertainment. More specifically, the mediums of digital series and user generated content creator content. During this swiftly moving past three year timeframe, Ive been graced with the opportunity to witness the blooming of the online video entertainment ecosystem as it continues to grow in scale and subject matter variety, and its been an absolutely incredible ride, to say the least. And now, here in 2014, vividly entertaining indie digital series like Michael Carusos web soap DeVanity and Bernie Sus homage to author Jane Austen with The Lizzie Bennet Diaries are being nominated for/winning Emmys, VEVO and other www music destinations picking up where MTV left off and breathing life back into the music video entertainment format, and young, bright and thoroughly engaging user generated content creators like Jenna Marbles, Ben and Rafi Fine, Tyler Oakley and so many others are writing their own rules for their entertainment careers. Sitting here in reflection on these past three years at they keys of a device that now offers virtually an infinite amount of entertainment choices, I now know what it was like for the World War II and Baby Boomer generations when they witnessed the then fledgling concept of television as an entertainment medium grow into what it has become today.
