Back to some real time issues... In Abonema today I tried to buy a bottle of coke because I was almost dropping because of my low blood sugar ailment and I hadnt eaten and I couldnt find a store that had a cold bottle of coke. So I asked why and the store owner proudly told me that the Local Government has refused to pay for their light bills. I was taken aback. Where in the world does an LG pay for a consumers electric bill? I asked him if he had a meter and he said yes... I asked him how many air conditioners he had in his home and whats the size of his home and he said he had 3 air conditioners in a one bedroom apartment. I fainted!!! Luckily my driver was there to revive me... I decided to go to the LG office and inquired and I was told by a source that the electricity bill was just a hundred thousand naira short of 7 million naira. Can you imagine the nonsense? So they elect people and expect them to pay their own light bills for them from the funds given to LGAs for other things? What sort of Nigerians do we even have in this country? So how is the LG chairman supposed to do anything for the LGA? Little wonder why they have a general hospital in the LGA and its not functional and they sit in their houses waiting for another person to come and give them health care services free from their pockets...
