Backing Up Your Data Reminder - Have you backed up your files lately? I would like to remind all COPHS Mobile Computing Program students of the importance of backing up your notes and data to your external hard drive AT LEAST ONCE PER WEEK. Each of you has been given an external hard drive for this purpose. If you are unsure of how to back up your data to your external hard drive, please bring your mobile device(s) and your external drive to the Help Desk. They will be happy to show you how to do this. It is recommended that you begin your backup before going to bed; that way, the backup will not disrupt your school work. Backing up your data is extremely important in the event that your computer hard drive, iPad, or App fails, your computer is attacked by a virus and corrupts your data, your device is stolen, or if your device is damaged in a fall. When possible, the Help Desk will always attempt to recover your data, but depending on the extent of the issue, this may or may not be possible. At this point, all of you know someone that has had one of these events happen. These events are far less disruptive to your life if you have a recent backup of all your school work. Per your COPHS Mobile Computing Program contract: Butler IT is not responsible for any personal data or applications stored on the tablet or removable media. Personal data will not be intentionally removed, but no effort will be made to retrieve personal data in the event of a software or hardware failure. The Student is strongly encouraged to keep backups of personal data and/or store data on an external hard drive. In actuality the Help Desk will make an effort to back up your data as a courtesy for every reimage or hardware failure; however, the Help Desk maintains NO RESPONSIBILITY for your personal data or applications. If you have any questions about data backup or external hard drives, please contact the Help Desk at 940-HELP (4357), [email protected], or stop by HB 315.
