Badrinath: The Indian Air Force has evacuated 200 people from Pithoragarh on Wednesday, but over 600 people still have to evacuated. This even as the state government told the Supreme Court that the rescue operation in the state is over. Meanwhile, the Met department has predicted heavy rain in the state starting Wednesday evening which is likely to last for the next two to three days. Heavy rainfall is predicted in Kumaon region, and districts such as Pithoragarh, Nainital, Champawat will be affected. On Tuesday, all pilgrims in Badrinath were finally evacuated with Operation Rahat being termed as the biggest air rescue operation conducted by the Air Force. The focus now shifts to rehabilitating the locals and rebuilding the state.
