Bafana Bafana midfielder Daylon Claasen has signed for Lech Poznan, accordin to the Polish club website. He is their fifth signing of the new season and has concluded a one-year deal with an option for two more. The 23-year-old joins from the Belgian club Lierse, where his contract ended last May. He has since been on trial in Germany and England, but was unable to obtain a British work permit, which scuppered offers from both Hull City and Blackpool. “We had our eye on him since March and Apriland our coaches have watched several of his matches. At the time we were unable to do the deal but we are glad we have now finally got the chance. He was our leading candidate to fill the No 10 position,” said the club’s vice president Piotr Rutkowski. Lech Poznan were runners-up in the Polish league last season but suffered a surprise early elimination from the Uefa Europa League earlier this month. Claasen previously played at Ajax Amsterdam and made his Bafana debut in 2010.
