Bag a festive bin bargain Residents are being invited to treat themselves to a litle something extra this Christmas and take advantage of a festive bin sale. From 1 December - 31 January, Cherwell District Council will reduce the cost of its blue and brown recycling bins to just £10 and will guarantee a pre-Christmas delivery for all orders placed before 13 December. Cllr Nigel Morris, lead member for clean and green, said: We know that over the Christmas and New Year period residents bins fill up much more quickly as people indulge in food and spoil each other with gifts. However the majority of rubbish associated with this festive period, such as wrapping paper, packaging or leftover food, can be recycled. We know everyone loves a bargain, especially at Christmas so it makes sense for us to join in the festive spirit and give our own gift to residents with a discounted recycling bin sale at the time when they need it most. The £10 bin sale will be applicable to orders placed online or over the phone, although online orders can be processed faster. The discounted costs will be instead of the usual price of £15 for bins ordered online or £18 if purchased over the phone. Residents are being reminded that many items associated with Christmas can be recycled by Cherwell District Council including plastic and metal biscuit/ sweet tins which can be placed in the blue bin. Also by leaving batteries or old electrical items inside a carrier bag and placing this on top of any bin on usual collection days, these items will also be taken away and recycled. Throughout December Cherwell will be answering residents’ common recycling questions through a festive Advent Calendar on its Facebook page facebook/cherwelldistrictcouncil For more information or to order a discounted bin visit phone 01295 227003 or visit cherwell.gov.uk/recycling
