“Balen Angeles: Kanita’t Ngeni” is a pictorial book that depicts the city then and now. Anyone, who was born and raised here way back before it became a town can relate to most of the pictures. They are treasured photographs that evoke and bring back good memories of one’s childhood and how life was back then. This book has been conceived out of the Facebook group ‘Angeles City.’ Thanks to Paolo Torno Galang, Elmer Cato and Danon Dizon, Architects of the Facebook group. It was Danon Dizon’s posts and other members and contributors that won the hearts of many of us, who took pride and marveled at the photos of old Angeles. Danon is the son of the famous artist and historian of Angeles City, Dan Dizon. Angelenos here and abroad, including Millete Caparas, Placido de Guzman, Adela Pamintuan, Ka Bogie and many other contributors, commentators and residents who haven’t met and dont even know one another, except through Facebook ,shared their childhood experiences, reminisences and memoroes of the old Angeles. The comments, views and opinions in that Facebook group brought about priceless memories to everyone, even foreigners as well, especially the American servicemen who were stationed at Clark Air Force Base through the years. The short anecdotes of people, who made us laugh, interacted and smiled though thousands of miles away from our hometown. Comments connected us back in time… a time capsule that connected us with a common bond with strangers on that Facebook group. It was indeed from this that we, FB fanatics and friends who were introduced to one another by our common interest and passion for our city, decided to come up with a book to treasure and reminisce the sweet moments of our growing up years… just for one more time… frozen in the following pages of this book. The Editorial Staff, including volunteer students from HAU and CCA; Angelenos of diverse background and expertise, like Ronnie Tayag, Marc Nepomuceno, Arch. Rosette Santos, Don Allan Dinio, Dax Daquigan, Elaine Angeles, Maritess Tan Gerona, Choc Sotto, Linda Pamintuan, Joy Cruz, Soc Sabile, Sendong Makabali, Japs Viray, Archie Reyes, Miniang Pamintuan, Borj Meneses; joined and combined their individual talents and efforts to come up with this book under the guidance and inspiration of Editor-in-Chief, Ed Pamintuan, who is one of the most prolific comment writers, sharing his childhood experiences and memories of places, people and events in Angeles City as it was remembered. This book was written by Angelenos who only met through Facebook and developed a camaraderie and a bond that kept their love for Angeles City burning with pride and passion. They spent countless hours, drinking unlimited cups of coffee, burning the midnight oil and contributing whatever they have so that our future generation will have something to hold on to and link them to their glorious past. This project is beyond and outside politics. Not even a single centavo of government money was used and will be used for this. With pride, we present you with this book of our hometown, “Balen Angeles: Kanita at Ngeni”! Dacal pung salamat! by Don Allan Dinio
