In the bank you hardly can use your initiative because of the phrase of that is how we have been doing it before. No problem if you decide to use your initiative but know that once there is trouble, na only you go answer the query. Let me tell you how it works. There are these documents they call operation manuals which details exactly how a transaction should go. Even if what was written in it is clumsy and impractical that is your business until it is reviewed you are bound by it. Now in every situation outside the bank and in your homes, you are asked to think outside the box. Good for you. In the bank if thinking outside the box makes the bank to save or gain money good for you but God help you if it occasions loss. These operation manuals are big and detailed and in the midst of the heavy work load, you are expected to cram the contents. Anytime you pick it up, you see one thing you have been doing wrong. Anytime you are moved, nobody gives you time to study it so if I were you, I will first study the manual in the middle of the night for days to be abreast with it. Unlike in places where provisions are made for new people, nobody gives a hoot if you were just employed yesterday and has not been put through. Have you gone to the bank and requested for a favoûr that is simple and in your eyes doable and the person attending to you is dilly dallying. Please dont get angry, some staff may have just been warned or sacked over it. You do certain things at your own risk. So if the opening of account requires a b c d and c and d or just d is not there even when it is clear that it may not be necessary an over careful banker will still be cautious because when the chips are down you are down. Now the one I detest is Doing everything your competitor does without any consideration for your staff or your banks uniqueness. I believe that your banks progress and staff survival should be something that can BE HOME GROWN or if you want to import, you IMPORT ONLY THE GOOD. 1. All banks have turned some staff into contract. Banks constantly wanting to know what others are doing. Our competitors are... But when it comes to salary, the banks that ape the policies of others so bumper to bumper will pretend they did not know what others are paying or hide under let them make the profit first.
