Bannerghatta Rd may see 30ft cut in widening TNN Bangalore: Here is some respite for those who risk losing their properties for widening of Bannerghatta Road. For,the proposed width is likely to be reduced.Following a public consultation meeting on Saturday,Mayor BS Sathyanarayana said that the move comes in order to keep property demolition numbers to the minimum. We had plans to widen the 7.5-km road stretch to 150ft,but now we may restrict it to 120ft.The issue will be discussed in the BBMP council meeting first, he added. During the public consultation, many residents raised concerns over Namma Metro alignment passing through the stretch and demanded that the Palike and BMRCL work in co-ordination to minimize the risk in future.Prasanna R,a resident of Bilekahalli, said the land necessary for Metro project should be identified now itself to avoid confusion in future. Some property owners also demanded that the Palike upload the list of properties marked for demolition for road-widening or other projects on its website so that the public is clued in to whats happening. Bangalore in-charge-minister Ramalingareddy said he will discuss with chief minister Siddaramaiah about proposals to widen more roads, including Sarjapur Road and Silk Board Junction Road among others. TDR VALUES TO BE REVISED The mayor said that the transfer of development rights (TDR) rates in the A (core city),B (between core city and ORR) and C (beyond ORR) zones of Bangalore will be increased. At present, the rate is one and half times the land to be acquired for any project. We will put the hike proposal in the upcoming BBMP council and urge the government to give the nod in the legislature session, he added.Several property owners at the public consultation also demanded revision of TDR rates in the city.
