Barack Obama cruised into office in 2008 not on the strength of his resume, but on the promise that he would be the opposite of Bush. How is that working out?...All the heinous things the media accused Bush of – trampling privacy rights, torturing our enemies – Obama promised to reverse. Flash forward five years. Instead of waterboarding terrorist suspects, Obama vaporizes them with drones. Instead of seeking to track suspects’ phone calls, the government tracks EVERYBODY’S phone calls– and emails and Twitter tweets and more. So maybe this shouldn’t come as a surprise. A new Gallup tracking poll find that former President George W. Bush’s favorability rating has risen to 49 percent. For the very first time, that’s higher than his unfavorable rating, and higher than Obama’s favorable rating of 47 percent. Maybe it’s because Americans are realizing that neither man is what the media painted him to be. Of course, that’s true of everyone in the public eye. Or maybe, we’re starting to appreciate how Bush has spent the past five years just quietly leaving everyone alone.
