Baseball at last! So the Indians won their opener in Oakland. Sounds like it was a good game. I didnt watch it. In fact, looks like I wont be watching ANY games. This year marks the first season since the advent of tv, that not a SINGLE game will be televised on free local tv. All the games are on the Indians cable channel, as the vile Irish clan that owns the team maximizes profits. When they purchased the club 13 long years ago, there were 30 games at least on free tv. The creeps have whittled away at that number steadily. There were only a handful of games on free tv last season, now none. Now granted, Im weird, because I dont have cable. I pulled the plug on that 15 years ago and dont regret that decision at all. Hell, I dont even watch much broadcast tv any more. Mostly, I stream. A better use of my buck. But I do enjoy watching a baseball game on a summer night. Guess Im shit out of luck. So heres a team that I heavily subsidize with tax dollars, and just got truckloads of public money to repair their stadium (which my taxes paid to build), and I cant watch them unless I pony up $75 a month for cable? Looks like Ill be listening to games on the radio, just like my grandparents did.
