#BasisLA + WHY RSVP | in the spirit of keeping our mission only about the dancefloor and keeping things fair, Basis does not have a guest list. The short of it is this: we have a free RSVP for people who need some relief on the exorbitant prices of supposed EDM clubs that are around us all day. That RSVP requires that you get there a bit earlier however - but serves the purpose of supporting the opening DJs and helping build a vibe earlier in the night. We dont want there to be an purely economic reason for you not joining us on the dancefloor. So, first and foremost, the RSVP is there for you - a chance to come in free if you need or want - and no special favors asked. We want you there with us. Secondly, if you cannot join us before 11p, we ask that you pay the $20 admission. It helps keep the artists, DJs, street team, printing presses, graphic designers, sound people, door people, and all the logistics it takes to pull a night off that is bringing in talent from around the globe. This isnt a plea to beg for dollars or to put an arbitrary rule that is meant to exclude - but rather a request that you actively support the work, sweat (and sometimes tears) those who put the time and money into letting events like this even have a chance to exist. We are truly an ecosystem, interdependent on each other to keep the underground alive and able to survive. So kindly support the artists and those of us trying like hell to bring quality dance music to you by either rsvping to come early and get in free - or pay the $20 admission so we can continue to try to make our events better, each time, month over month. I hope those reading this understand and will support this philosophy in the spirit in which its intended - to sustain and be fair about admissions and the need to remove unfair guest lists and exclusionary tactics.
