Battle for Osun: APC-PDP claim superiority The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State, Dr Iyiola Omisore, on Thursday, urged members of the party and voters in the state, who were desirous of change, to boldly go out and vote for the PDP in the August 9 governorship election, noting that there would be adequate security of lives and property. Omisore, who was in company with several notable leaders of the party; his running mate, Honourable Adejare Bello; the Alhaji Gani Olaoluwa-led State working committee and thousands of party loyalists, the party’s campaign stated this in Ipetu-Ijesa, saying that while the APC and Governor Rauf Aregbesola had publicly declared violence, the PDP wanted peace and that it would not allow thuggery and brigandage during and after the poll. “We are in control of government at the federal level and we cannot be scared by the APC’s threat of violence. Come out and vote for a better life, come out and vote for better education and health, vote for freedom from debts and servitude to Lagos which APC has thrown the state into. Anyone that plans to use thuggery to stop the people’s will shall face the wrath of the law,” he said. Also speaking, the chairman of the party, Alhaji Gani Olaoluwa assured the people of the PDP’s commitment to developing the state and putting an end to the APC-inflicted suffering, while Bello urged the people to elect Omisore so that they would be happy again and free from the hardship they are going through.” Speaking earlier at Owena and Ikeji-Arakeji respectively, Omisore stated rescue mission in the state will include making life better for civil servants, artisans, students and the entire people of the state, whom he said had been suffering under the misrule of the APC government for four years. “We promise you that when the PDP wins on August 9, market men and women will have a new lease of life; you will trade freely. Our economy will be improved and Osun people will work and reap the rewards of their labour rather than present situation whereby our money is enjoyed by Lagosisans. We will also reverse the mediocre education policy of the incumbent government and restore the dignity of education by rebuilding the demolished schools and reverting to the old uniform system.” At the palace of the Ajalaye of Ipetu-Ijesa, Oba Adekunle Baderin, the PDP received a huge boost as the oba assured Omisore of the support of the traditional institution and the people, urging him to see to the fulfillment of his promises when he becomes governor. Omisore had promised to accord traditional rulers the dignity due to them and to take adequate care of the royal fathers.
