Bauchi to spend N2m daily on meat factory. The factory is expected start production in August. The Bauchi State Government would require a sum of N2 million daily to sustain its meat factory. The General Manager, Bauchi State Meat Products Company Limited, Alkasim Ibrahim, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Tuesday in Bauchi. According to him, the company, which has been dormant for many years, will start production before the end of August, slaughtering 10 herds of cattle daily. “More than N2 million will be spent on raw materials, ingredients and production. “10 herds of cattle will be slaughtered daily and will be processed into beef, instant mince meat, offal, fillet, cow legs and skin (kpomo),” he said. The General Manager said that the company would use cool vans for the distribution of its product to customters within Bauchi metropolis. He said that the company would also employ more staff to boost production and meet consumer demands. “We have procured cool vans that the company will use to move round and sell its products. All products will be packaged in a manner that will maintain its protein value,” he assured. He said that meat processed in the company, would be supervised by Veterinary experts. -PREMIUM TIMES
