Be Kind “‘Dont be afraid,’ David said to him, ‘for I will surely show you kindness for the sake of your father Jonathan. I will restore to you all the land that belonged to your grandfather Saul, and you will always eat at my table.’” – 2 Samuel 9:7 On June 29, 2014, Katie Kanefke, the mother of a four month old boy, was checking out at the Walmart in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She was buying diapers and was informed that Walmart would only match the price of one set of diapers. Unbeknownst to Katie, 73 year old Carol Flynn was watching. I was standing in line and there was kind of a hold-up, said Carol. Im not impatient in my older days, but I noticed this young lady was standing at the checkout. I walked over to her, put my arm on my shoulder and I asked, Is there a problem? Katie replied, Im just buying diapers. Carol noticed three boxes of diapers set aside and said, You probably need those. Diapers are for babies and babies are on my heart. Were always concerned about moms and healthy babies. Carol showed kindness and bought all 4 boxes of diapers for Katie. Katie replied: You dont need to but thank you very much. I have one little boy and he sure goes through diapers fast. Im sure he does, quipped Carol as she paid about $120 worth of diapers. Katie reflected on the kind act, I couldnt believe it. I was shocked. I kept saying thank you and God bless you...Then I walked out in the parking lot and started crying. It just hit me. It was an awesome statement of what Gods love does. One of the best testimonies of Jesus Christ is kindness to others. Today in prayer, praise Jesus for His kindness towards you and seek to be kind toothers. “To ease anothers heartache is to forget ones own.” – Abraham Lincoln God’s Word: “Therefore, as Gods chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.” - Colossians 3:12.
