Beautiful reflection by Imam Ghazali. Fast from the heart. Fast with complete submission. Let not distractions of any sort deviate you from your devotion and focus on your fast. You will be tested. Dont react but reflect. Think and remind yourself of Allahs guidance and Allah messengers example ( peace be upon him). Do everything with good adab (manners). We are human and therefore we will fall into error. Dont panic, but repent and have hope in the Lord of universe of HIS mercy and forgiveness because HE loves to forgive who asks for forgiveness. Read Quran, read Quran, read Quran with translation of your language if you are not proficient in Arabic. Dont forget what Angel Jibreel said to the messenger first time. Read. Read with open heart and ponder on it. Allahs will is in HIS book and as it takes a child years to learn and read so does it takes time and patience to understand Quran. Its up to us how much time we give to.it. Fast with intent to please God and no one else. Fast to bring good in you. Fast to break the chains that has been holding you back from becoming a better person, a good Muslim, and humble servant of Allah WHO does not want anything from you and me but to come close to HIM as does the mother with her child. Allah loves you and me and HE shall put us through darkness and grief not because HE wants is to be in fear and hopelessness but because HE wants us to realize HIS majestic power of light, love, hope. Allah wants us to be hopeful and positive about life. God wants us to remember HIM and HIS attributes. Put your hope in Allah, and let not your mistakes and faults shy away from HIS mercy . Allah brought us into this world not worship this world but to worship HIM alone and know that HE loves us much by appreciating HIS creation for our comfort and well being. Let this month of Ramadan be the month to open your heart and allow HIS light of mercy and love change you to be a better person and a awakened slave of God. Faisal Khan
