Because Lions Clubs have 1.37 million members, in more than 46,000 clubs, in 209 countries around the world, Lions are everywhere. So when disaster strikes, Lions are the first to respond. Having members who live and work locally with boots on the ground, before the disaster strikes, enables Lions to quickly assess the situation and determine what kind of emergency relief response is required. While other organizations are working to get people into the disaster area to assess the situation, Lions have already assessed the situation and are triggering an effective emergency relief response.
