Because Of The Poor & The Needy... “Because the poor are plundered and the needy groan, I will now arise,” says the LORD. “I will protect them from those who malign them.” - Psa 12:5 Every poor are not in need, and every needy are not poor; But oppressing them is injustice before God and man. • Taking advantage of the poor and silencing the needy is not in the character of God who created us in His own image, and after His likeness. No wonder Jesus said, You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. (Matthew 5:43-45 NKJV) • Jesus established His church, Gods kingdom on earth to be like Him among men; And He said to His church, You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven. (Matthew 5:14-16 NKJV) • The Church is to be looking unto Jesus the Author and Finisher of our faith (Heb 12:2), as Peter also testified saying; how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him. (Acts 10:38 NKJV) > Unlike the people under the Old Testament, the church of Jesus Christ of Nazareth is anointed by God with the Holy Spirit and with power, sent to go about doing good and healing all who are oppressed by the devil, for Christ is with us even to the end of the age (Matt 28:18-20. Mk 16:15-20. 2Cor 1:20-22). • The early church followed the footstep of Jesus; Now the multitude of those who believed were of one heart and one soul; neither did anyone say that any of the things he possessed was his own, but they had all things in common...Nor was there anyone among them who lacked; for all who were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the proceeds of the things that were sold, and laid them at the apostles’ feet; and they distributed to each as anyone had need. (Acts 4:32, 34-35 NKJV) > But what are we seeing in the so called churches today? We are seeing opposite of the life and teachings of Jesus about the poor. We are seeing the poor exploited and the needy silenced. • Instead of taking care of the poor they are asked to pay tithes or sow seed to receive blessing of God. Instead of giving to the needy they are silenced by investing in the so called work of God. > The poor and needy are praying and fasting for financial breakthrough and supplies from heaven while God has blessed some among us to take care of them. Even in the churches today, the rich is getting richer and the poor getting poorer just like in the world system of government. • Paul was highly educated yet he rather work as a tent maker than exploiting the poor through selling of books and other ministerial materials; he had one mission as the Lord commended; I have coveted no one’s silver or gold or apparel. Yes, you yourselves know that these hands have provided for my necessities, and for those who were with me. I have shown you in every way, by laboring like this, that you must support the weak. And remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’ ” (Acts 20:33-35 NKJV) > He needed no one to tell him about the necessary thing to do, They desired only that we should remember the poor, the very thing which I also was eager to do. (Galatians 2:10 NKJV) • We must be eager to fulfill the law of Christ, not the tradition of the elders and be wise in the ministering to the poor and needy am king us; Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ. For if anyone thinks himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceives himself. But let each one examine his own work, and then he will have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another. For each one shall bear his own load. (Galatians 6:2-5 NKJV) • Let the Lord through you, “Because the poor are plundered and the needy groan, now arise to protect the poor and needy from those who malign them; God stands in the congregation of the mighty; He judges among the gods. How long will you judge unjustly, And show partiality to the wicked? Selah Defend the poor and fatherless; Do justice to the afflicted and needy. Deliver the poor and needy; Free them from the hand of the wicked. They do not know, nor do they understand; They walk about in darkness; All the foundations of the earth are unstable. I said, “You are gods, And all of you are children of the Most High. (Psalms 82:1-6 NKJV) • When you give, let it be for the poor (Lk 12:32-34). When you party, let it be for the poor (Lk 14:12-14). For the poor is the only way to give to God; If you help the poor, you are lending to the LORD; and he will repay you...He who gives to the poor will not lack...(Proverbs 19:17; 28:27). > Jesus said to him, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell what you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me.” (Matthew 19:21 NKJV) Are you following Jesus of Nazareth? Is your so called church following Jesus of Nazareth? If you claim to believe in Jesus, then follow His footstep and observe all things He commanded. + May God generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others in Jesus Name! Amen! (2Cor 9:8. Phil 4:19)
