Because of the deceptive teachings of false grace, many professing Christians, when they read the words,Fear of the Lord, automatically think,Im not scared of God. Thats Old Testament thinking. My God is love and Hes nothing to fear. Others may think something along the lines of,Oh yeah, I know about the fear of God. Its just being reverent; you know, like bowing your head and closing your eyes, changing your tone of voice when you pray. Stuff like that. Want the truth? :D The fear of the Lord is the essential, wholehearted acknowledgment that HE IS LORD. This wholehearted, no holds barred acknowledgment of His lordship manifests as the practical willingness to remain more aware of Him than anything else, no matter what is going on in the world around us. Our thoughts are processed with the consistent and unbroken awareness of His abiding Presence. Our emotions are processed with the consistent and unbroken awareness of His abiding Presence. Our actions & words -- EVERYTHING -- we do and say, are first regarded through our awareness of HIS MANIFEST PRESENCE. This is, at least at first, a very CONSCIOUS and purposeful approach to living. Our faith (what we believe) is tried, strengthened, purified, refined and perfected throughout this process. Our unique identities in Christ, blossom and thrive, producing much fruit as we abide in the fear of the Lord. I have discovered that within a very short period of time, (and I believe the length of time depends upon a persons willingness to truly KNOW HIM) it becomes less of a CONSCIOUS effort and more of a reflex. This is the result of our mind being renewed; our thought patterns and emotional habits are changed. Our perspective is radically altered - we begin to see as HE sees. We think His thoughts, feel what He feels and become privy to His imaginations. This is what He has always wanted. It was His goal in Eden and it was fulfilled in His own Son, Jesus Christ of Nazareth, who now LIVES WITHIN EACH OF US WHO BELIEVE. The Bible puts it like this: The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the holy One is understanding. ~Proverbs 9:10 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. ~Romans 12:2 It is the SAVING POWER of Gods grace at work in us which makes all this possible, and Gods grace belongs to those who LOVE HIM. Do you love God? :D Then GRACE TO YOU, ~RCT
