Been nominated to list my top 10 albums that have had an influence on me over the years. Some of which I have no doubt I will continue to listen to until my dying day. East 17 and PJ and Duncan didnt quite make the cut. I nominate John Goodwin, Paul Cantwell, Lee Carnall and Michael McConnell to list theirs. Cheers chaps. 1. Guns n Roses Appetite for destruction - Loved this band as a kid. My summer holidays were taken over by this album. Owned all their cds but this album in particular is mind blowing. Timeless classic. Doesnt sound 27 years old. Had it on last night in fact. Just superb. 2. Very close second but its Metallica Black album - great high school memories with this record. Its the album and band that gave me the urge to not only play the drums, but to get myself in a band. Again you listen to this album and it could have been recorded last year. Never gets old or boring. A true masterpiece. 3. Queen Greatest Hits - No better front man on the planet than Freddie. Was a huge Queen fan as a child and could listen to them for many more years to come. GH2 also an album I listened to loads but this one just pipped it to the list. 4. Eminem Slim Shady LP - First heard My name is on a school trip. Hadnt heard anything like it. Got home, bought it, loved it. His best album to date by far. 5. Paul Simon Graceland - Got my Brother to thank for introducing me to this epic album. Awesome grooves, great bass lines and some of his best lyrics of his career. An album for the summer. 6. Red hot chilli peppers Californication - College days all over. Had this on repeat for a year almost in 1999. Still a band Ive never seen live. Not a fan of albums after this really but this album makes up for that alone. 7. Stereophonics Word gets around - What a debut album!!!! Kelly Jones in his prime. Need to buy this again as my copy is f*****!!!! 8. Rage Against The Machine (self titled) - One of those albums where its an offence to skip a track. Brilliant from the word go right until the final track ends. Will still be listening to this is a nursing home playing air drums with my cutlery. 9. Rolling Stones Rolled Gold - My Mum had this on vinyl and I used to play this loads on my record player in 1988. I was only 5 but already had a true love for rock and roll music. I know its a greatest hits album again but they all count. 10. Hmmm final choice. Im not surprised to have no obvious choices in here such as Oasis or Nirvana. Loved them both but just didnt do anything for me infuentially. My final choice is Bob Marley Legend. Used to worship this man. Painted a huge canvas of him at college, slept listening to him, smoked listening to him. Only a 9 track album but each one a classic.
