Been putting off doing this for a while, but it needs to be done. I will not be coming back to Duluth this year. I love the town and all of the wonderful people in it, but its just not the right place for me at this point in my life. A few months ago I decided I would apply to McNally Smith College of Music here in St. Paul. I have always had a huge interest in attending but cost wise it was always out of the question. I was told that all of the scholarship deadlines had passed, so I decided that I would just swallow the bill this year and hope to try for one next year if I ended up even getting in. Not only did I get in, but the faculty loved my music so much that they awarded me a 50% scholarship to finish my studies there and financial aid pretty much ended up covering the rest. It came out of the blue and it was an offer I couldnt refuse. I am pretty damn excited to start this new chapter in my life and I am so grateful for my friends and the great faculty that have helped me get so this far. I am really going to miss everyone, but whats a few miles between friends? I know its going to be a lot of hard work, but I feel like McNally Smith will give me the tools that I need to succeed as a contemporary musician and composer. This includes in depth instruction in artistry, technology, and entrepreneurship. I am very glad to have had such a wonderful teacher and mentor Justin Rubin these last couple of years, but I feel like well be seeing one another again very soon :)
