Before I begin... Celtics 17 Championships Lakers 16 - TopicsExpress

Before I begin... Celtics 17 Championships Lakers 16 Championships OK, the Lakers are still second...but anyways. Theres a reason why I said the Lakers play better without Kobe. The reason is, Kobe is a ball hog. Probably the biggest one in the league right now! When hes on the court, he takes anywhere between 33-45% of the teams total shots. His best career average was .460 last year! Kobe is not a postman, hes a shooting guard. His shots are what you call, low percentage shots. His career for shooting is about .430. When you have a player shoot low percentage shots and averages .430 for his career, that means you are missing 57% of your scoring opportunities! That is why the Lakers were so good when they had Shaq in the post. Shaq was making about 55-58% of his shots and took about 33% of the teams overall shots. When Kobe plays, the other teams let him shoot. Why? Because theres a likely hood that hell miss the shot by about 57%! And because he hardly passes except if a player is on a wide open fast break for a dime, teams figure to let 43% of the shots fall on 33-45% of the teams overall shooting because while Kobe has the rock, no one else on the Lakers has a chance to get hot, unless he gets lucky! So when your team is iced because of a ball hog star, as that star gets older, and more injuries come, you will actually see your team PLAY better without him, because they know that their window of playing time will suddenly go down once that player comes back! And if you noticed...more Lakers score in double digits because as the ball is passed, it gives players a better chance at an open look, which means a higher percentage shot. Also, remember, the only two scoring titles Kobe has, were during the worse years of his career with the Lakers. That says a lot... - Birdman33
