Before I start... TYSM Marsha for all of your help guiding us on how to take care of Bob and search for his family!!!!!! XOXOXO It was a crazy day yesterday. And the funny thing is it was mostly my husband that was the reason for it! REALLY! Im as shocked as the rest of you that the man who was so resistant to adopt Charlie.... not because he was blind, but because Charlie was dog #3.... was the one who started the who whole rescue Bob day. LOL! Dave came home with Charlie in his arms after taking Charlie to the Vets for his routine eye checkup to find a Shih Tzu in our yard. He called us outside to help, but this dog wanted Daves attention. So we took Charlie inside, grabbed water, food, toys and a crate from the basement since he had no collar. So glad we kept them for this situation! :) He challenged Dave to chase him and ran circles around Dave for about 10 minutes before he finally got tired and sat to drink water. Then he sat next to Dave to be pet. We were shocked! Dave pet him for a bit then picked up and left for the vet. Unfortunately the vet did not know him and there was no chip. Dave went on to all of the local groomers, no one knew him. So he brought bob home (Matt gave this name). Dave and the kids kept taking turns for walks around the neighborhood to see if anyone knew him, nothing. We put a sign in front of our house and at local businesses. And we kept bringing him inside to cool off, then back out to the front yard hoping the owner would drive by. Eventually I became very ill with asthma and hives. Im allergic to animals and have to stay with the hair dogs like the ones we have. Thats when I became suspicious that he was a Shih Tzu/ Terrier mix. I was right. I got on-line while Dave and the kids were doing all of this, to search the many lost dogs data basis including locals. Called the local dog warden who did not call back till today. Searched for a rescue shelter to find them all full or questionable. Then ended up calling the Sherriffs office and had no choice but to take him to the Broome County Animal Shelter around 9pm. We didnt want to, but it turned out to be the best thing we could have done. Marsha told you I believe how the owners found Bob? So now because he is at the animal shelter, the owners, who will do what ever it takes to get him back (WOOOO HOOOO!!!!), have to pay for the neutering, chip, Vetting, and learn about his allergies and better diet for him. The owners are just grateful he is ok. We are SO happy he will be reunited with them. He was just too sweet, well trained and cared for to not have a loving family!!!!!! I think the cutest thing is he kept licking our feet! Melted us! Fantasia, Freckles, Charlie and Bob all got along with each other. Not one instance of growling or even barking! We were amazed! So here is my message to any of you who are even slightly considering fostering these sweet babies. We are upset that because of my health, we cant. But we are so grateful to have the one day memory of being able to help keep a baby safe until he can be reunited with his LOVING family. Just imagine.... how amazing would it feel to help a baby who has no one!!!???? Please dont lose out!!!??? If you can foster, do so!
