Before Women Had Wings is a tale of a young girls plight and courage in the face of an abusive mother. This was a large scale production starring Ellen Barkin and Oprah Winfrey, and was the national premiere of Oprahs film series, Oprah Winfrey Presents from Harpo Studios, for ABC. The opening, introductory sequence was based on the 1994 film, The Wizard of Austin Boulevard by Louis Antonelli, who was invited by Oprah and Harpo Studios to collaborate on the creation of this opening, together with her and Filmmaker Lloyd Kramer. Antonelli states, ...as always, its a joy and privilege to work closely with Oprah, and we had a wonderful, highly creative, fun time making this for the debut of her new film series for ABC. The location chosen for this piece was the historic Patio Theater in Chicago, which was the same setting for Antonellis award winning film this visually poetic intro was based on. vimeo/114643454
