Before refrigerators, people used icehouses to preserve their food. Icehouses had thick walls, no windows, and a tightly fitted door. In winter, when streams and lakes were frozen, large blocks of ice were cut, hauled to the icehouses, and covered with sawdust. Often the ice would last well into the summer. One man lost a valuable watch while working in an icehouse. He searched diligently for it, carefully raking through the sawdust, but didn’t find it. His fellow workers also looked, but their efforts, too, proved futile. A small boy who heard about the fruitless search slipped into the icehouse. during the noon hour and soon emerged with the watch. Amazed, the men asked him how he found it. I closed the door, the boy replied, lay down in the sawdust, and kept very still. Soon I heard the watch ticking. When your mind is clouded with the cares and troubles of this world, it will be difficult to hear God. But you ask, ‘how can I be calm in the face of adversity?’ How can I be still when my life is grinding to a complete standstill?’ Friend, a Word from God will make the difference in your life. A time comes in your life, when you need to be still and just hear from Him. Nobody succeed in life without a word and this may come in the form of an idea impressed on your heart by God. When you open your heart to the Lord in the quietness of your recess, He will drop the seed of His Word that will bring a turnaround in your situation. Be still and know that He is Lord over every challenge you might be faced with. This is not the time for you to cry, it’s not the time for you to run from pillar to post seeking help from people that would rather want to see you continue in your deplorable condition. Take a break, sit back for a minute and be still. What this means is, you put all your hope and trust in the Lord. Look away from man, for vain is his help. What this means is, you are telling the Lord you can’t go through this storm without His presence. You are saying ‘Lord, I have got to my wits end, take over and I will ride with you through it all.’ When you are STILL in God, the world will standstill for you. Pray this prayer with me. Lord help me to trust in you no matter the situation. Let your peace encapsulate me in Jesus name. God bless you
