Before the weekend begins I wanted to drop by and give an update - TopicsExpress

Before the weekend begins I wanted to drop by and give an update on Anthony. As you all know we officially checked out of the Ronald McDonald House on Tuesday. While Julia and Christian are due to return back home this weekend, Anthony and I took the opportunity to settle in back home by unpacking our suitcases that we have been living out of for the past 9 months, getting restocked on his medical supplies and getting reacquainted with his local home health agency and having labs drawn Its been a busy week but we are glad to be home sweet home! We do have a reservation at DUKE on July 9-11th. Anthony needs to have a procedure done to the vessel of the liver. We will arrive on the 9th for labs then the procedure is at 730am on Thursday morning. We will be admitted for overnight observation with a planned discharge on Friday. The procedure is basically to open the vessel which seems to have some narrowing. My understanding is that this is common after a liver transplant. They will go through his neck to do the procedure. The following weeks will depend on Anthonys labs. If all goes well then we will likely go to DUKE for a visit with the transplant team weekly for a while. We can usually do it there/back in one day if the day goes smooth :). We will also spend the next few weeks after the procedure establishing a team of nurses to care for Anthony. Once Frank and I feel comfortable that we have the right team to care for Anthony, I will finally get to go back to work. (Yes, I am looking forward to it.) Anthony still has a long road ahead of him. He is not really eating much and he still has the same medical needs ( central line care, feeding tube and ostomy care) as he did prior to transplant. His new organs are functioning but because of all the setbacks he has had his post transplant recovery is slacking. He will likely need one more surgery (Ill explain at a later time), but this will not take place until he is well recovered and strong enough to undergo another operation. So, with all of that said, we want to say THANK YOU!! to everyone for all of your continued prayers for our little man. Happy 4th of July! Enjoy your weekend!!
