Before we came to meet and fall in love Leia, she originally belonged to a vicious man who had hopes of breeding her, and using her as a bait dog in a dog fighting ring. She was forced to endure regular physical abuse and neglect. She was only 12 weeks old. During Hurricane Sandy, Leia was abandoned outside with no food, water or shelter - all while battling the elements including the cold. A neighbor of this horrendous man saw the heinous situation she was living in and rescued her. Leias rescuer turned out to be one of my husbands employees. After seeing her and hearing about how she was mistreated, my husband and I agreed to adopt this skinny, depressed, and beaten 12 week old pitbull terrier mix. We named her Leia (Star Wars).
