Before we get married, especially in church we go through counselling by our pastors on how to be good husbands and wives. We get the morality lessons, which are good. At that point, we (especially women) are in high spirits just like a teenager buying his first car who can’t wait to be called a city motorist. Our pastors feed us with food or morality because many have limited knowledge on what the law on marriages really entails. I have sincere advice for anyone of you planning a wedding anytime soon. Please, as you attend the premarital counselling, get sessions also with a good family lawyer to take you through things hidden in law books about marriages, which some of your ears have never heard and would not want to hear. I can guarantee you this, that after five or six sessions more than 50% of the planned weddings will be called off.
