Begin rant. Jesus, cant we just have a football game without laying it on so thick with all this maudlin slop? Its shameless grandiose self-congratulatory nationalism. Army Navy is a game, not the Normandy invasion. And Apache helicopters flying over a crowded stadium represent stupidity and a massive waste of gasoline not freedom. If god exists, its unlikely he cares about which academys team wins a game. Yes, people died in some misguided wars started by a recent administration and ended by another. And yes, some of those who died graduated from the schools playing today. And unfortunately, our government will probably think of some reason to kill some of those playing today. But lets not encourage geopolitical stupidity by glorifying its human cost. I write this as a West Point graduate who cares intensely about this game. End of rant. Resume game.
