Precious Memories By: Rhonda Morales May 2014 Precious memories, unseen angels Sent from somewhere to my soul How they linger ever near me And the sacred past unfold Precious father, loving mother Fly across the lonely years And old home scenes of my childhood In fond memory appear Precious memories, how they linger How they ever flood my soul In the stillness of the midnight Precious sacred scenes unfold This was one of the songs sung at both of my parent’s funeral services last year. My parents went home with Jesus within three months of each other. And as I reflect on my memories of them, my heart is filled with memories of the most precious gift they gave to me, the gift of their unconditional love. Through all my accomplishments and also through all my mistakes, they loved me and never once told me, “I told you so!” Just as I remember my parent’s love for me as their daughter, I think of how my heavenly Father also loves me unconditionally. Through all the trials and tribulations in my life, He has been right there with me, just as my parents were. He has rejoiced with me in my good times and wiped away my tears in the hard times. Deuteronomy 31:8 ESV says, “It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.” I will always remember all my parents did for me as well as their love and compassion for me, all the sacrifices they made just to take care of me. In the same way, I will remember that my God, my Father, is doing great things in my life and He loves me very much. He made the ultimate sacrifice, He sent His Son to die for me. He gave His life selflessly for me, and He did it for you as well. He hath made his wonderful works to be remembered: the Lord is gracious and full of compassion. Psalm 111:4
