#BehindTheWeather Blog: Two years ago tonight, one of the most massive storms in history made landfall in New Jersey. What was once Hurricane Sandy came to be known as Superstorm Sandy. Many, including here in Ohio, will never forget that storm. Believe it or not, another former hurricane will likely be impacting our weather this Halloween! Some of the energy that will create our Halloween storm is coming from the remnants of what was once Hurricane Ana in the Pacific Ocean! Pretty fascinating when you think about it. Luckily that energy will be a lot weaker as it moves through the Ohio Valley. However, once that energy emerges along the eastern seaboard, it could develop into a NorEaster and move up or near the east coast! But this will be no Sandy... not even close. For Ohio, all the models all seem to agree that rain showers will either mix with or change to some snow across much of the state Halloween night. The models do not agree on how much snow. Below are the European, GFS and WRF model forecasts. Remember though, snowfall forecasts on the models can vary dramatically (as you can see). To be fair, with the warm ground (after temperatures in the upper 70s earlier this week), it is very doubtful much snow stays on the ground for very long if at all. So dont expect any travel problems other than wet roads. But it is fun to watch the models try to pinpoint where the snow may be the heaviest. And it is a reminder that soon, we will be dealing with our first winter storm. I am still looking for your dates on when Columbus will see the first one inch of snow! Give me your guesses!
