Beijing holds another anti-terrorism drill this Thursday (May 16), the fourth during the last 3 weeks, in the lead up to the 25th anniversary of Tiananmen Massacre. On the same day (May 16), Tang Jingling, a prominent human rights lawyer based in Guangzhou was criminally detained on charge of Looking for Quarrels and Causing Trouble. About 16 lawyers, journalists, artists and writers have been detained, mostly on the same charge since early May. Starting this Monday, 150 armored vehicles and SWAT teams have been patrolling streets of Beijing. Chinese Netizens quip: Why arent they going to Vietnam to fight the rioters?
