Being a Christian doesnt change WHAT you deal with, It changes HOW you deal with it. --- I read this the other day and it sorta stuck in my mind. Knowing HOW to deal with things is the reason we can find joy and peace in our lives even when things are not going exactly how we want them to go. Not a one of us is going to be able to go through this life without experiencing his/her OWN trials. How we choose to deal with them determines our attitude and latitude concerning everything and everyone around us. Very rarely can we fix it ourselves, and if we do, its often only a very temporary fix. Ive said this before, but its seldom when we can understand Gods plan for us. And even in the glorious heights of our human-ness, we are usually incapable of finding TRUE peace and joy by ourselves. Most of the time our biggest hindrance is pride. The older I get, it seems the more I understand this. This pride in ourselves is what leads us to our temporary worldly fixes for our problems. But Gods solutions and answers are not temporary. He allows us to see our issues for what they really are. He allows us to get our priorities in line. When we seek Gods help, suddenly our problems or woes dont seem so insurmountable. I ran for more than 40 years from God. I tried almost everything imaginable to fill that void- trying to find peace, trying to find joy. But NONE of what I tried worked very long. Then I asked God into my life. And since then, nothing has been the same. He helps me through the worst of times. He gives me the peace and joy in my heart that I couldnt otherwise find. Oh, I often stumble and sometimes fall, but Hes ALWAYS there to pick me up. Thank-you Lord for always being with me. Thank-you Lord for always loving me. Thank-you Lord for saving me. If youre tired of running, Hell help you too. Just ask Him! And then hold on, because youll NEVER be the same. Pray today for our country on this day we celebrate our independence.
