Being a Montana Girl I can relate to this. Yes, we all have hurt others by sinning against them. But we are not all abusers. Abusers share certain kind of thoughts and tactics that define who they are. As two hunters in Montana found out this year, you may shoot and wound a black bear and track him down successfully, but if you shoot and wound a grizzly bear, he may well track YOU down and kill you. Wisdom dictates that we deal with grizzly bears and black bears differently. In the same way, we must deal with abusers differently that we deal with sinners in general. Part of the thesis of this book is that we in evangelical Christianity have been treating grizzlies like black bears, and victims have been getting eaten up as a result.
